Mary Singer Exhibit at MCA

Mary Singer

Galleria Valéncia at the Minnesota Conservatory for the Arts (MCA) is featuring an exhibit by portrait artist Mary Singer, August 17th throughout the month of September.

Mary has worked with a wide variety of visual arts her whole life here in Winona. She started out doing commissioned fine art portraits of people. Equine and pets were big as well. Then she moved on to layout books and learned every aspect of designing and putting together a magazine. This was before everything was done on computers, so she designed a layout board to include ads, articles and cartoons. Singer went on to do caricatures and started to portray wildlife and the beautiful scenery here in the Midwest. Singer has taught drawing, cartooning and painting. Her work is comprised of oils, watercolors, graphite, mixed media and pen and ink. You may see portraits Mary has done over the years on display at Pet Medical Center on Third Street in downtown Winona.

The public is invited to the show’s opening reception with the artist from 5:30pm-7:30pm on August 17th at the Valencia Arts Center, it will run simultaneously with River Arts Alliance’s August Art Schmooze which includes a free talk titled “The Art of Online Marketing”.

The galleria will also be open during regular office hours: Mondays through Tuesday 9am-6pm, Wednesdays 11:30am-5:30pm and Thursday-Friday 9 am to 3 pm and while evening and Weekend classes are in session.
