Plein Air Painting Workshop with Beau Carey

This unique opportunity allows you to board the Cal Fremling, Winona State University’s Interpretive Center & Floating Classroom on the Mississippi River, for a plein air painting workshop with artist Beau Carey. For this intermediate level class, participants are asked to provide their own brushes and painting surface (paper or canvas) and WSU will provide paint and materials to create a traveling paint palette. Light snacks and drinks will be provided.

Participants are to meet at the Cal Fremling in Levee Park in Winona at 8:00 for a 8:30 departure. Cost is $25 and space is limited to 10 community members, call 507‑474‑6626 or email dcasey@mmam.org to register.  

Beau Carey is based in Albuquerque, New Mexico. He earned his Masters of Fine Arts from the University of New Mexico in 2010. He has exhibited extensively throughout the United States, including at UBS gallery in New York, the Boulder Museum of Contemporary Art in Boulder, CO and 516 Arts in Albuquerque, NM. Carey is represented by Goodwin Fine Art in Denver, CO. Swell: Paintings by Beau Carey will be on display at WSU’s Watkins Gallery August 21-September 13, 2017. 

This program is offered through a collaboration with Winona State University and the Minnesota Marine Art Museum and is partially funded through a generous donation by Ernest and Sally Micek in memory of W.B. “Bill” Gautsch.
