March 2019 Historical Fiction Cover Contest

Terri Karsten’s first novel, A Mistake of Consequence, has won the March 2019 Historical Fiction Cover Contest run by award-winning author and blogger, Pam Lecky. ( pamlecky.com/blog/)

The novel follows the adventures of Callie Beaton, kidnapped from Scotland, carried across the Atlantic Ocean, and sold as an indentured servant in the American Colonies. Desperate to return home, Callie faces smugglers, murderers, and deception at every turn.

Although the story takes place in 1754, the winning cover is designed from an engraving of Arch Street near the harbor in Philadelphia in the 1790’s. The original engraving has been cropped so that the flag of the newly established United States of America does not appear on the book cover.
