George Gale’s Birthday Celebration

Sunday | November 3 | 3:00pm
Old Main | 3rd Floor Auditorium
20869 College Ave | Galesville, WI
www.oldmain.org

Dorothy Twesme has given Old Main a rare first edition copy, printed in 1827, of The Life of Napoleon Buonaparte, Emperor of the French by Sir Walter Scott (a 9-volume set), a copy of which George Gale read when he was 15 years old. George Gale wrote that reading this book is what set him to reading everything he could get his hands on until eventually he founded Galesville, Gale College, and Trempealeau County. Old Main was, of course, built as the home for the college.

We will unveil the books at a birthday celebration concert for Judge Gale, (Dr. Christopher Mechell had to cancel his performance. Check back for an update on the performers.) Our concert will feature music that was popular during the time of Napoleon and George Gale. Pam Kelly has found excellent student musicians.  We will read a letter from Dorothy.

We hope you can come and sign a note of friendship and thanks to Dorothy for this contribution to the life of Old Main and its program.

A reception with cake from Lylli and Ivi given by Studio 6 will follow the concert from about 4:00 to 5:00 p.m.  The free will offering will help support the Gale Star program for music students.
