Valley Oaks Shelter
We are excited to announce this month we plan to meet outside at the Valley Oaks Shelter for sharing and critiquing our writing. Everyone attending will need to sign a liability waiver if they have not already done so. Bring your own chair if possible. There are two benches available, and the library can bring out a chair if necessary. We’ll be meeting in person this month, with a Zoom option (see below) for anyone unable to attend at Valley Oaks.
Bring a copy of your writing that you wish to share (up to 2000 words). Optionally, bring 4 or 5 extra copies to share with participants. Or, the library staff will be happy to make copies for folks if they bring them in ahead of time and tell the library it’s for the writer’s group.
As always, feel free to use the prompts below, change them, or ignore them and write your own idea. We will read aloud, then share verbal comments and suggestions.
July Prompts:
- We’ve been experiencing more heat and less rain than usual this summer. And what rain there has been, has often been hail or violent thunderstorms. Write about a storm. This could be fiction, poetry, or a memory of something you experienced.
- Write something starting with: If only I had….
