DESCRIPTION:Academy Theatre | Valencia Arts Center | 1164 W 10th (Howard) St.\nmca.smumn.edu \nThe Minnesota Conservatory for the Arts (MCA) invites our community to watch our young dancers ages 5-13 as they perform dances for Movie Mania\, Take 2! They will be performing ballet\, contemporary and musical theatre genres to some of our favorite movie songs\, including Pirates of the Caribbean and The Little Mermaid. Performances are Friday\, December 2nd at 6:30pm and Saturday\, December 3rd at 3:00pm. Tickets are $7 for students/seniors (65+) and $15 for adults and may be purchased beginning Monday\, Nov. 7th in the MCA office during business hours or one hour prior to the performance. DESCRIPTION:Central Lutheran Church | 259 W Wabasha St. \nFor nearly 30 years\, the Messiah Sing-In has been the unofficial start of Winona’s Christmas season. After a three-year hiatus\, Central Lutheran Church will once again host the Messiah Sing-In on Saturday\, December 3rd at 7:00 pm. The performance by orchestra\, choir\, and soloists will feature local musicians as well as the renowned North Star Boys’ Choir. And members of the audience will once again lift their voices to favorite selections from Part One of Handel’s magnificent oratorio\, Messiah!   \nTo enable all to attend\, the event will be free and open to the public. All proceeds collected from a suggested $10 donation will be given to support the Winona Community Warming Center. Learn more.

DESCRIPTION:Winona Arts Center | 228 E 5th St.\nwinonaarts.org \nSam Miltich and Chris Bates will present “The Improvised Life: Exploring Intersections of Mental Health & Creativity through Jazz\,” on December 3 at the Winona Arts Center. The concert will feature an amazing evening of original compositions and improvisations of gypsy jazz musicians\, highlighting cultural contributions of famous artists with mental illness and inspiring hope through Miltich’s own story and original compositions. Miltich has played with Hot Club of San Francisco and toured internationally with the world-renowned Robin Nolan Trio. Chris Bates is a bassist of formidable talent. Tickets are $20 in advance or $25 at the door. Coffeehouse opens at 6pm and concert begins at 7 pm. Learn more.
