DESCRIPTION:Blue Heron Coffeehouse | 162 W 2nd St. \nThe Laureate Writers Series will feature an open mic session for its November 6th meeting at the Blue Heron Coffeehouse. The program\, normally held on the first Tuesday of every month\, will meet at 7 pm on the first Wednesday of November in order to avoid conflicting with election night. The open mic program was scheduled in response to an earlier one that proved very popular. At open mic sessions writers young and old are invited to share original poetry or short prose pieces with members of the audience. No prizes will be awarded. Learn more.

Scott Lowery will read famous-or-not poems about or for birds—among the not-so-famous may be a few of his own—and then will host an open mic for anyone who’d like to share their own favorites. Scott’s recent book\, Mutual Life\, (2nd Prize\, 2024 Wisconsin Fellowship of Poets Chapbook Contest) features on its cover a beautiful woodcut of a nuthatch on an oak trunk.
