DESCRIPTION:Thesis Beer Project | 1929 2nd St. SW | Rochester\nH3OJazz.com \nOver the past 2 decades\, H3O Jazz Trio founder Eric Heukeshoven has composed over 40 tunes dedicated to and performed for special places\, friends\, and occasions – restaurants\, art gallery openings\, music festivals\, a celebrity wedding\, the pandemic\, and some very special birthdays! TafelJazz is a collection of 12 of these “songs for an occasion” composed by Heukeshoven and performed by H3O with the help of friends and family including John Paulson on sax and flute\, John Sievers on trombone and vocals\, and Janet Heukeshoven on flute. \nTo celebrate the release of their first studio recording\, H3O Jazz Trio is throwing two album release parties – and everyone’s invited! On Wednesday\, February 21 from 6 to 8 pm\, fans in Rochester can hear the entire album performed live as part of the Rochester City Jazz Festival’s monthlong residency at Thesis Beer Project. Donations collected from a freewill offering will support the instrument’s upcoming renovation. The first recital on February 21 will feature Alexander Meszler\, an organist dedicated to interdisciplinary performance and research. Fashion Landscape: A Sampler of 19th-century Stage Characters and Their Costumes will introduce participants to seven of Kay’s history-based female characters through script excerpts and period textile arts. Actor/model Lacey Korb will assist her. The program unfolds within view of the Decorative Arts wing of the exhibition currently on view at the Minnesota Marine Art Museum\, Re/Framing the View: Nineteenth-Century American Landscapes. Participants are encouraged to take a pre-look at that exhibit. We will seek enlarged understanding of how women’s fashion across that century served both functional and decorative roles in Re/Framing the View. Ages 12 and up welcome. \nThis event is free to attend for members of RAA or MMAM\, and included with museum admission for others. Critics agree that her novel The Cartographer of No Man’s Land (W.W. Norton\, New York\, 2013)\, later published in Canada\, Great Britain\, Taiwan\, and Israel\, was outstanding. DESCRIPTION:Winona Arts Center | 228 E 5th St.\nwinonaarts.org \nThe Winona Arts Center is pleased to announce the exhibit “Conversations: The Collaboration of an Artist and an Artificial Intelligence” by Morro Schreiber opens on January 28 and runs through March 3\, 2024. An opening reception will be held on Sunday\, January 28 from 1:00 to 4:00 pm\, with an Artist Talk at 1:30 pm. Schreiber is a lifelong artist and wordsmith who overcame a visceral knee-jerk hatred of the very idea of art created with artificial intelligence within minutes of actually using AI to create some art of her own. She’s been in daily conversation with midJourney AI since the release of v3 over a year ago\, and has generated over 45\,000 images (of disparate interest and quality)\, now working with v5.2 and the recently released v6. Schreiber has lived in Winona with her family for the past 18 years; this is her first solo exhibition. Learn more.
