DESCRIPTION:Island City Brewing Company | 65 E Front St.\nH3OJazz.com \nWhether you paddle\, hike\, fish\, or love birds\, the Upper Mississippi River National Wildlife and Fish Refuge in Winona’s backyard is a world-class wildlife area that also offers fantastic recreation opportunities. This month’s Jazz Jam at Island City Brewing Company will support the Friends of the Refuge Headwaters\, a volunteer organization made up of people who support the Refuge. The group hosts activities throughout the year that bring people out onto the Refuge (paddling\, fishing\, birdwatching)\, assist Refuge staff with biological surveys\, and educate and advocate on behalf of the Refuge. All donations at the August Jazz Jam will be matched by H3O Jazz Trio and Island City – tripling the total for the Friends of the Refuge! Learn more.

DESCRIPTION:Winona Arts Center | 228 E 5th St.\nwinonaarts.org \nThe capstone event for Dr. Bob’s puppet making classes will be held on August 19 at the Winona Arts Center. Dr. Bob offered four free puppet making classes for individuals ages 9 through 18 in June and July. Students were able to use a simple template to build a rod style puppet. The capstone event will provide an opportunity to view the newly created puppets along with a presentation on the process of building puppets and a puppet show. Learn more.
