SUMMARY:From Tuscany to Trempealeay Art Exhibit by Colleen Shore
DESCRIPTION:Throughout October\, 2025\nElmaro Vineyard (Crush Pad)\nArtist reception: October 26 | 1-4 PM \nAgritourism is the focus of my upcoming exhibit of original oil paintings. Inspired by Elmaro Vineyard\, motivated by Poggio Etrusco and encouraged by Ecker’s Apple Farm\, I hope you’ll enjoy my perspective on the efforts of farms to diversify and add the element of tourism. \nElmaro\, has been a great supporter of my art\, having been invited to display in the crush pad for the past four years. This relationship has opened my eyes to the multitude of activities they provide in a rural setting\, attracting and entertaining their visitors with tasting\, consumption and purchases. During all the seasons\, I’ve painted or sketched on site getting to know the owners\, vineyard workers\, event staff and servers. Inspiring me to put together this show. \nPoggio Etrusco\, an experience of a lifetime at a 1600’s farmhouse B&B in the Tuscan Countryside. What can I say but thank you Karen S. for inviting me to come along on this journey. I had to figure out how to take my art supplies overseas to be able to capture the olive harvest on my easel and it was well worth it. Pamela Sheldon\, owner and cookbook author\, also added to the experience by providing cooking classes and organizing wonderful events like truffle hunting and cheese tasting in the area. Motivating me to express my delight through my art. \nEcker’s Apple Farm\, I focused on Ecker’s family farm after exploring other Agritourism in the Trempealeau area. I reached out to Sara who was more than welcoming to allow me to do some plein air painting on the property\, I was able to catch the apple blossoms just in time with her assistance. I knew right away the passion they had for continuing the family business. It’s certainly more than U-Pick Your Own Apples from the old days. Encouraging me to add one more element of final inspiration for this show. \nI hope you’ll enjoy my tribute to the hard work of these three rural businesses and celebrate with me at my closing reception on Sunday\, Oct. 26 from 1-4pm. \nMore information at cshoreartwork.blogspot.com\nQuestions cshoreartwork@gmail.com \nColleen Shore is a member of the River Arts Alliance. SUMMARY:Artist Exhibit "Farfetched Fish"
DESCRIPTION:Opening Reception  October 26  1:00-4:00pm\nArtist talk  2:00pm\nExhibit dates:  October 26-November 23\nWinona Arts Center 228 E 5th Street\n\nPlease join us for the opening of Linda Sue Eastman”s latest exhibit entitled Farfetched Fish.  The opening is from 1:00-4:00 pm with a talk from the artist at 2:00.  The exhibit runs through November 23 with gallery hours on Saturdays & Sundays from 1:00-4:00.\n\nLinda Sue Eastman’s school of fish was created with smiles\, imagination\, and fine technique.  Starting with one simple knit fish she grabbed the idea and swam with it\, making a  plan to write a book others could use as inspiration.  Readers can use her book as inspiration for creating knitted fish using their own choice of yarn\, color\, pattern\, and embroidery.    The Exhibit takes you from start to finish of her years-long project.   You are invited to attend the exhibit and wonder at the patterns and the fish\, including a peek into Eastman’s artist copy of her book. \nEastman will be providing fish knitting classes during the month of November\, one for new/learning knitters\, and one for those with basic knitting skills.  Look for the details of the classes on our website\, FB page\, and our November WAC at a Glance. \nContact:  cnelsonk12@gmail.com \nWinona Arts Center is an organizational member of the River Arts Alliance. SUMMARY:“Fragments of Time” Art works by Ray Kiihne
DESCRIPTION:Nov. 1 – Nov. 29 Fri 5-7\, Sat 1-4\nOpening Reception: Nov. 1 | 1-4\nTHIS project space\n953 W. 5th St\, Winona\nShowing at THIS project space has given me the privilege of compiling “Fragments of Time.”  In it are two paintings from 2022 and 2024 which relate to earlier works I’ve never shown before\, as well as three new installations.  The first is Suite of Six\, works on blackened paper with acrylic golds\, blues and blacks that I scraped across the surface\, much like inking a copper etching plate.  I relate them to Goya’s etching\, The Sleep of Reason Breeds Monsters.  In the second installation\, I’ve used five small panels to suggest high windows with two of them falling away.  And in the third\, Gripped Hands of Time\, are giant clock hands\, their surfaces wrapped with gripping tape. \nA Comments Book will be available\, and I’m eager to read visitors’ reactions. \nI grew up walking and riding in Nebraska cornfields and occasionally\, alongside unbroken prairie.  Then I lived for two years along the ocean’s edge in California; and in the early 70’s\, I found a wonderful light-filled space in which to paint in Albuquerque.  I return often to that space in my work. \nKiihne is a senior painter who has lived in Winona since 1976. He has shown most recently at the Winona Arts Center and Red Horse Gallery in Fountain City.  He holds degrees from Wayne State College\, Nebraska\, Ball State University\, and his MFA from the University of New Mexico.  He taught at Central Michigan University\, University of New Mexico\, Viterbo College\, Winona State University\, and Escola Americana de Brasilia\, Brazil.  He has shown in solo\, group\, and invitational shows in Washington\, Oregon\, California\, Michigan\, Iowa\, Minnesota\, Nebraska\, Texas and New Mexico. \nRay Kiihne is a member of the River Arts Alliance. To learn more about the benefits of membership\, please visit: riverartsalliance.org/membership/.

SUMMARY:LVDY concert: Winona Arts Center
DESCRIPTION:Saturday  November 1\nConcert at 7:00 and gallery & coffeehouse open at 6:00\n$20/adv and $25/door\nContact:   debiniebuhr@gmail.com \nThe Winona Arts Center (228 E 5th St) is very excited to host the two lovely women from Colorado who are LVDY on November 1 \nTickets available at Eventbrite and Music Mart \, who now accept cash\, checks and credit cards without fees. There is a cash bar for wine and beer. \n“With roots in singer-songwriter\, indie-folk and a sound shaped by soaring harmonies and organic instrumentation\, LVDY crafts songs that feel like home. Their uplifting sound and intimate storytelling weave love anthems in and out of their messages\, with simple yet important reminders that we’re not alone.”  For the members of LVDY\, the music is more than a job; it’s what intertwines their heart and souls\, and it’s how they share their most intense joys and deepest feelings with others.   Mable describes writing music as “an invitation to show up as you are\,” and performing like “cracking people open.” Accordingly\, the two friends don’t hold back their feelings\, bite their tongues or mask any part of their identity. Music allows them to be unapologetically themselves.
