The Brass Band concert will be in the sanctuary from\n11:00-11:45 followed by a soup/sandwich lunch. \nAll are welcome to join in the holiday\nfestivities! \nThe Winona Brass Band\, directed by Dr. Janet Heukeshoven\, will perform a wide variety of\nfamiliar Christmas carols. Mechell\, brings an exciting\, family- friendly flair\, featuring a selection of holiday and seasonal favorites along with the cherished choruses from Part One of Handel’s Messiah. The program is just an hour long\, so it’s a great way for everyone\, no matter their age\, to sing\, hum\, or just soak in the fun\, festive vibe. \nNew this year\, families will be treated to an array of beloved seasonal pieces\, including the energetic Polar Express Medley with “Hot Chocolate\,” the magical music of The Snowman\, favorites from How the Grinch Stole Christmas\, and the lively Fezziwig’s Frolic. Directed by Kurt Speltz\, the Winona Community Chorale\, a vibrant 60 voice ensemble\, will lend its rich harmonies to the evening’s celebration\, bringing an added warmth and festive spirit to this year’s program. \nThe event will feature BellaMusica\, a high-caliber community chamber choir known for its expressive performances accompanied by a professional orchestra composed of some of the finest musicians in Southeast Minnesota. Scott Turkington will perform works by Bach\, Bossi\, Franck\, Boëllmann\, Rowley\, Saint-Martine\, and Vierne. The recital is free and open to all. Donations collected from a freewill offering will support the instrument’s upcoming renovation. Scott Turkington will be familiar to all who have attended Central’s Messiah Sing-In the past two years. As an organ recitalist\, he has played innumerable U.S. recitals\, having made his New York debut at St. Patrick’s Cathedral\, and in Washington\, D.C.\, at the Washington National Cathedral. The performance will feature singers from Bella Musica\, orchestra\, and soloists. Members of the audience will once again lift their voices to favorite choruses from Part One of Handel’s magnificent oratorio\, Messiah. To enable all to attend\, the event will be free and open to all.
