DESCRIPTION:Page Theater | SMU | 700 Terrace Heights\nsandbarstorytellingfestival.org\n\n\n\nThe Sandbar Storytelling Festival (SSF) is adding a new and improved event to their festival this year\, a Community Storytelling Competition. To compete at the festival\, nine community tellers will be chosen during a Pre-Competition Screening on Tuesday\, Oct. 10. Tellers will have five minutes to tell a story of their choice. The best nine will be chosen from the screening to perform for the final competition on Saturday\, Oct. 14\, at 4 pm in the Page Theater at Saint Mary’s University. DESCRIPTION:Page Theatre | Saint Mary’s University | 700 Terrace Heights \nOn April 16th\, the Jazz Ensemble and Concert Band combine in one concert to celebrate the Heukeshovens’ years of teaching at Saint Mary’s University. The Jazz Ensemble\, led by A. Eric Heukeshoven\, will take the stage first\, featuring many returning alumni on this “players’ favorites” concert. Then the Concert Band will take the stage with a concert fanfare\, then presenting a new composition by Benjamin D. Taylor through the Kaplan Foundation Commissioning program which started in 2000. Tickets to Murphy’s performance\, to be held at Saint Mary’s University’s Page Theatre\, are $25 for the public and $20 for students. Enjoy Irish music by local band Patina in the lobby before the show. \nAdditionally\, Murphy will lead a storytelling workshop at Winona Arts Center\, 5th and Franklin streets\, from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday\, April 16.
