SUMMARY:The DitchLilies: Concert at Winona Arts Center
DESCRIPTION:November 8 | 7:00 pm\nGallery and Coffeehouse opens at 6:00 pm\nCost: $15/adv at Music Mart & Eventbrite\, or $20/door\nThe Winona Arts Center\n228 E 5th Street\, Winona\, MN \nThe Winona Arts Center is pleased to host our first concert with this Wisconsin duo. There will be a cash bar for wine & beer. Tickets are $15/advance without fees at Music Mart  (115 E 3rd St) & Eventbrite and $20/door.  This Wisconsin’s American Roots duo\, The DitchLilies\, have been in musical cahoots since 1998. Kari Larson and Lisa Schultz are stringed multi-instrumentalists/vocalists with a soft spot and keen enthusiasm for early swing\, old-time mountain music and juke joint songs of the Golden Era. Together\, they turn back in time to dust off the rare and forgotten tunes or to hone the familiar\, tried and true melodies with the aim of carrying them forward to share with audiences of today. Variously tender and bold\, imaginative and well-honed\, The DitchLilies bring a refreshing sound to the roots music revival. Their harmonies are wonderful and their songs are great! Kara & Lisa are excited to be joined by Winona’s own fiddling maven\, Betsy Neil.  This concert is partially funded with the generous donations from Merchants Bank\, Affinity Plus Credit Union & Dahl Toyota. \nContact:  debiniebuhr@gmail.com \nWinona Arts Center is an organizational member of the River Arts Alliance. SUMMARY:LVDY concert: Winona Arts Center
DESCRIPTION:Saturday  November 1\nConcert at 7:00 and gallery & coffeehouse open at 6:00\n$20/adv and $25/door\nContact:   debiniebuhr@gmail.com \nThe Winona Arts Center (228 E 5th St) is very excited to host the two lovely women from Colorado who are LVDY on November 1 \nTickets available at Eventbrite and Music Mart \, who now accept cash\, checks and credit cards without fees. There is a cash bar for wine and beer. \n“With roots in singer-songwriter\, indie-folk and a sound shaped by soaring harmonies and organic instrumentation\, LVDY crafts songs that feel like home. Their uplifting sound and intimate storytelling weave love anthems in and out of their messages\, with simple yet important reminders that we’re not alone.”  For the members of LVDY\, the music is more than a job; it’s what intertwines their heart and souls\, and it’s how they share their most intense joys and deepest feelings with others.   Mable describes writing music as “an invitation to show up as you are\,” and performing like “cracking people open.” Accordingly\, the two friends don’t hold back their feelings\, bite their tongues or mask any part of their identity. Music allows them to be unapologetically themselves.

SUMMARY:Artist Exhibit "Farfetched Fish"
DESCRIPTION:Opening Reception  October 26  1:00-4:00pm\nArtist talk  2:00pm\nExhibit dates:  October 26-November 23\nWinona Arts Center 228 E 5th Street\n\nPlease join us for the opening of Linda Sue Eastman”s latest exhibit entitled Farfetched Fish.  The opening is from 1:00-4:00 pm with a talk from the artist at 2:00.  The exhibit runs through November 23 with gallery hours on Saturdays & Sundays from 1:00-4:00.\n\nLinda Sue Eastman’s school of fish was created with smiles\, imagination\, and fine technique.  Starting with one simple knit fish she grabbed the idea and swam with it\, making a  plan to write a book others could use as inspiration.  Readers can use her book as inspiration for creating knitted fish using their own choice of yarn\, color\, pattern\, and embroidery.    The Exhibit takes you from start to finish of her years-long project.   You are invited to attend the exhibit and wonder at the patterns and the fish\, including a peek into Eastman’s artist copy of her book. \nEastman will be providing fish knitting classes during the month of November\, one for new/learning knitters\, and one for those with basic knitting skills.  Look for the details of the classes on our website\, FB page\, and our November WAC at a Glance. \nContact:  cnelsonk12@gmail.com \nWinona Arts Center is an organizational member of the River Arts Alliance. SUMMARY:Frozen River Film Festival: Four Souls of Coyote
DESCRIPTION:Friday\, September 26\, 2025 | 7:00 – 9:00 PM (doors open at 6:30 PM)\nWinona Arts Center\, 228 E 5th St\, Winona\, MN 55987 \nFrozen River Film Festival invites the community to a screening of the film Four Souls of Coyote\, a breathtaking animated feature by acclaimed Hungarian director Áron Gauder. The event will take place on Friday\, September 26\, 2025\, at 7:00 PM (doors open at 6:30 PM) at the Winona Arts Center\, 228 E 5th St\, Winona\, MN. \nFour Souls of Coyote is a powerful tribute to a humiliated and destroyed nation.  “As Long as the Grass Grows” is an alternative\, ancient and humble creation story\, where man is not the crown of the creation\, but the weakest of all creatures. The film takes us back to the beginning of time\, where Old Man begins to create the world out of a handful of mud. Everything he creates is new and nameless\, and affects the rest of the world. Even feelings and desires are unknown and when they emerge\, the world becomes more and more complicated. \nBlending myth\, art\, and social commentary\, this 103-minute feature invites viewers to reflect on humanity’s place within nature and the interconnectedness of all living things. \nFor more information\, visit frff.org or contact the Illy Diaz\, the Managing Director\, at director@frff.org \nFrozen River Film Festival is an organizational member of the River Arts Alliance. The whole world is literally singing. Once we realize this we then choose to sing in harmony with it or make up our own song.”\n\nBruce was a professional guitarist who performed over 5\,000 concerts in his duo Patchouli & Terra Guitarra. Bruce passed away peacefully July 28\, 2025 from stroke complications after a 3 year battle with cancer. He was always generous with his joy and light and you can see and feel that in each of these featured Landscape of Guitar paintings in this special posthumous exhibit. In place of an artist’s talk\, Bruce’s beloved partner Julie Patchouli will share a few words in his honor and present the animation of The Landscape of Guitar.

DESCRIPTION:Come join us at the Winona Arts Center (228 E 5th St) for a special performance by celebrated Minnesota singer-songwriter Rachael Kilgour on Sunday\, September 7 for an afternoon concert at 2:00.  Rachael presents her heartfelt release\, My Father Loved Me\, as part of a one-woman storytelling performance. In the spare\, often gutting language for which she is known\, Kilgour poses questions about belonging\, inheritance\, grief and triumphantly affirms the value of one ordinary working man’s life. \nListeners can expect to laugh\, weep\, and reflect on their own relationships with fatherhood\, mortality and grief. \nKilgour is a 2025 Mcknight Music Fellow\, a winner of the NewSong Music Competition (2015) and Kerrville New Folk Contest (2017)\, and has been featured at NYC’s Lincoln Center and The Kennedy C \nenter in Washington DC. Her oft-noted “unapologetic lyrics” (Rolling Stone) and “master crafted indie folk” sensibilities (Billboard) are on full display in this latest collection of delicately woven songs. \nThis project and performance is supported by the Minnesota State Arts Board. \nTickets are available on Eventbrite or at Music Mart for $10./adv or $15/door.  Music Mart accepts cash\, checks\, and credit cards with no fees.
