His most recent Dry Point Etching workshop at the Winona Arts Center was well received by a capacity group of energetic\, creative students. This workshop will introduce participants to the technique of Chine-Collé\, a Chinese paper collage method that enhances printmaking or painting\, adding texture and pattern to the surface. The course will cover both the practical aspects of creating prints and the historical context of the medium. DESCRIPTION:Winona Arts Center | 228 E 5th St.\nwinonaarts.org \nThe Winona Arts Center is happy to announce the next artist exhibit entitled The River Connects Us by Peter Mutschler (a Winona\, MN based photographer and a River Arts Alliance member) and Tom Gillaspy (a Stillwater\, MN poet). The exhibit opening is on Sunday\, January 19\, from 1:00-4:00. The exhibit runs through March 2\, 2025. \nThe Mississippi River is the backbone of the United States. Its waters carry our grain\, our ore\, our history\, our dreams. Creations of music\, art\, and stories are deposited on the flood plains of Old Muddy. Pete’s images explore the unique and sometimes hidden culture that flows from this Great River\, from the headwaters in Northern Minnesota to the delta south of New Orleans. Tom’s poetry provides a sensitive and sometimes powerful reflection inspired by the images. Learn more.

Sue Lee Ringwelski\, a songwriter in her own right\, collaborates with Kara Mae and adds lead guitar to the harmonies. Rounding out the group\, Greg Peterson plays a Brendan White bodhrán\, whistles\, the accordion and a backing guitar. The three musicians mix their musical harmonies in a playful way that will take you to Ireland on a January night in Minnesota! DESCRIPTION:Winona Arts Center | 228 E 5th St.\nwinonaarts.org \nThe Winona Arts Center is thrilled to have Preston Lawing teach a 3-day workshop on Dry Point Etching. The classes will be held on Wednesdays\, November 13\, 20\, and December 4 from 5:30-7:30 pm. Preston Lawing is an award winning professor and collaborative printmaker who has worked and exhibited with numerous artists and printers for over forty years. He will introduce participants to the technique of drypoint etching\, covering both the practical aspects of creating prints and the historical context of the medium. The cost is $150 for 3 classes.
