Local writers are invited to bring a short piece of your writing to share with us. Prompts are provided each month and you are able to change them or ignore them and write your own idea. We read aloud, then share verbal comments and suggestions. Details posted in the Weekly Update prior to the meeting.

Winona Public Library Learning Plaza
We are excited to announce this month we plan to meet outside at the Library Learning Plaza for sharing and critiquing our writing. Masks are preferred and social distancing is encouraged. Everyone attending will need to sign a liability waiver. Bring your own chair if possible. There are two benches available, and the library can bring out a chair if necessary. We will also have a zoom option for anyone who can't make the in-person event. See the link below. (In case of bad weather, the meeting will be Zoom only.)
Bring a copy of your writing that you wish to share (up to 2000 words) and the library staff will make copies for the group. As always, feel free to use the prompts below, change them, or ignore them and write your own idea. We will read aloud, then share verbal comments and suggestions. We hope to see you at the meeting.

In April we had 11 performers and donated $510 to Winona Volunteer Services – that’s what the Island City Jazz Jam is all about!
In May the Jazz Jam will continue to welcome performers while raising money for area non-profits. H3O will contribute all donations (aka tips) received during the afternoon. Island City and H3O will match the total amount collected—tripling everyone’s contributions!
May’s non-profit recipient will be Project Fine (projectfine.org). The non-profit was selected from a nomination made via H3O’s website: h3ojazz.com/jazz-jams/non-profit-nominations.html.
The May Jazz Jam will be held on Island City’s patio. Singers will need to wear masks and all equipment will be sanitized between each performer.

Julia Crozier, Winona artist, and John Sagan, owner of The Red Horse Gallery of Fountain City welcome one and all to the first exhibit at the Red Horse since the shutdown with Covid 19. They are both excited and happy to have a live event for the opening. Julia's work will be all recent from the last year. Julia will be showing realistic and abstract work. Oil paintings, some oil pastel drawings, and pen and ink with watercolor will be featured. Please join us for this fun event! The show runs through July. Covid Precautions will be in place.
