Frank Bures, Jr. To Read From His New Book At The Blue Heron
Frank Bures, Jr., essayist and contributing editor of Poets & Writers Magazine will read from his first book, The Geography of Madness: Penis Thieves, Voodoo Death, and The Search for the World’s Strangest Syndromes. The reading will be part of The Laureate Writers Series, and will take place at The Blue Heron Coffee House, 162 West Second Street, Winona on Tuesday May 3rd at 7pm.
Mr. Bures is also a columnist at The Rotarian Magazine, and his work has appeared in Harper’s, Outside, Men’s Health, Bicycling, Esquire, Audubon, Scientific American Mind, Wired, The Washington Post Magazine, and other publications. His stories have also been included in the Best American Travel Writing, selected as “Notable” in the Best American Essays and Best American Sports Writing, and won several Lowell Thomas Awards.
Local writers, young and old, published or not, are invited to read a brief selection of their own work at the open mic following the featured presentation. This event is co-sponsored by the Winona Fine Arts Commission and The Blue Heron Coffee House.
