Tuesday | March 6 | 7:00pm
Blue Heron Coffee House
The Laureate Writers Series will feature readings by LaCrosse poets Kelly Sexton and Georgia Lundeen. Kelly Sexton will read from her new book vodka-mountain and Georgia Lundeen will read from her new book spare, both published by Vegetarian Alcoholic Press, Milwaukee. The reading will be followed by an open mic. The theme for the open mic is “winter.” Remember to keep what you read to 5 minutes.
Kelly Sexton is a graduate of Viterbo University and has an MFA in Writing and Poetics from the Jack Kerouac School of Disembodied Poetics, Naropa University, where she was poetry editor of Bombay Gin, Naropa’s literary magazine. Her work has been published in a variety of journals.
Georgia Lundeen’s poetry is laced with traditional rhyme and meter. Her work sparkles and challenges. Her first children’s book, Love Like Us, with Alexandra L. Hemrick was published in 2014. Spare is her first full-length collection of poetry.
The reading will be introduced by Associate Poet Laureate Nicholle Ramsey.
This event is co-sponsored by Winona’s Fine Arts Commission and The Blue Heron and is free and open to the public.
