LaCrosse Society of Arts & Crafts Hosts Kathy Kovala Winona Artist in a Design Workshop
May 14, 15, & 16 | 9:00am – 4:00pm
Days Inn – French Island | La Crosse, WI
You are probably saying to yourself….why would I take a class on design when I barely able to draw or paint? Well here is what I found out in my years of teaching watercolor and rosemaling. If you know a few design principles, the painting, weaving, quilting, whatever you do, looks better if you use these principles to design your project. You know the old saying, “a picture is worth a thousand words!” Well I seem to learn by seeing and not reading, so I like to get these ideas across by showing you examples of the principles and then allow you to adapt them to your creations.
Students will say things like this “I had this in college, but I never made sense of it until now!” “I went to Arizona for the winter and used it in my stained glass class, I formed my colors by using design principles and it worked!” One student took the class and went back and brought 16 of her painting group for a special session.
This workshop is sponsored by the LCSAC – LaCrosse Society of Arts and Crafts – it will be held at the Day’s Inn on French Island. Contact is Penny Stroening – penelopestoening@gmail.com for additional details! Call Penny 608-525-0052, minimum of spaces, Pack a Lunch if you wish.
