Places Please! Community Performer Search
Have you always wanted to dance in A Chorus Line?
Have you ever dreamed of performing as part of the Page Series?
Have we got an opportunity for you!
On November 10, 2018, the Page Series presents Places Please! at the Valéncia Arts Center. This cabaret-style performance will incorporate up to 10 community members in ensemble work and up to three talented locals will be invited to perform their own 2-3 minute solo as part of the show!
WHO
This search is open to anyone 15 years of age and older living in Winona or surrounding communities. Participants must be ready to jump in and commit to a full-immersion rehearsal schedule (see below), as well as two performances on November 10, 2018. Dance experience is not necessary, but the ability to count music (keep time) and learn blocking is essential. Performers who are able “ham it up” as well as laugh at themselves will thoroughly enjoy this opportunity to work with Larry Keigwin and Nicole Wolcott of KEIGWIN + COMPANY.
SCHEDULE
Keigwin + Company will be in touch with selected performers this fall to discuss guest performer roles and what to expect. Because of the fast-paced nature of the show and limited rehearsal time, participants must commit to attending three-hour evening rehearsals on Thursday, November 8 and Friday, November 9. Participants will need to be available all day Saturday, November 10 for technical rehearsals and performances (once the production schedule is set, some of this time may be released). Performances will take place at 7 pm and 9 pm on Saturday, November 10.
AUDITIONS
Auditions take the form of an online application. Visit pagetheatre.org for application link and to submit your material, including biographical information and a video sample of no more than 3 minutes. Any type of performance is welcome – dance, music, theatre, and more!
You may audition to be part of the ensemble (group numbers only), to perform a solo, or both. Solos should relate to the theme of “making it” in show business and can be funny or serious – we can’t wait to see your interpretation! The deadline to submit materials is September 3.
SELECTION
A panel will select most of the performers, but an “Audience Choice” performer will be selected from votes on our Facebook page. Performers will be notified of selection decisions by mid-September.
