The Art of What’s Next?
The September Schmooze
Wednesday | September 5 | 5:30 to 7:00pm
Ed's (no name) Bar | 252 E. 3rd St.
After the Blue Heron Project was finished 10 years ago, people asked, “What’s next?” The Blue Heron committee began to host community discussions with those interested in the arts in the Winona region to discuss next steps. What we learned was that people felt a need for an umbrella organization that would help unify the local arts community, promote and support individual artists, provide arts education, and promote public art projects.
Since then, River Arts Alliance has built a firm foundation with individual and organizational member support as well as community partners. RAA hosts Family Art Day, the annual Members Exhibition, the HBC Fence Project, Great River Writes, and, after Bernadette Mahfood passed away, the Winona Art Walk. RAA also communicates via the Weekly Update, hosts a semi-regular column in the Winona Daily News, and hosts Schmoozes at which people can come together to network, to learn, and to provide information to one another.
This Schmooze will ask, “What’s next?” Winona is experiencing a renaissance of artistic activity! What are your hopes and dreams for the community? What role should RAA play in those ideas? Let’s talk!
Doors open at 5:30 p.m for light refreshments and networking. The program begins at 6 p.m. This event is free and open to the public. For more information, contact Vicki Englich at info@riverartsalliance.org .
The River Arts Alliance Art Schmooze is a free bi-monthly event featuring special programs and social time for RAA members and the community.
