Celebrate the season and the wonder of art at the Minnesota Marine Art Museum (MMAM) as part of MMAM’s Second Saturday events. This month’s theme is ‘The Gift of Art’. December’s event offers $1 admission for all, free guided tours, art-making activities, live music in the galleries, everyone’s favorite search-and-find game Bingo Overboard!, and many ways to explore art and the joy it can bring.
Activities for Second Saturday: The Gift of Art, include a 30-minute highlights tour orientating you to the museum’s collections, and a Gift of Art tour, where MMAM curators will explore the ownership origins and gifting stories behind a few pieces in the museum’s collection. Each month there are new and unique art projects. This month, visitors are encouraged to create a one-of-a-kind holiday card using paper quilling and to make an upcycled, giftable craft donated by Happy Dancing Turtle, a local organization that promotes sustainable living in our community.
Live music in the galleries will feature Amanda Grace at 11:00am, and Jake Illika at 3:00pm. MMAM is also pleased to host local artist, Jamie Harper, who will be onsite demonstrating his unique painting style using recycled materials.
