According to Wikipedia, “Tafelmusik (literally, ‘table-music’ in German) is a term used since the mid-16th century for music played at feasts and banquets.” Over the past 2 decades, H3O Jazz Trio founder Eric Heukeshoven has composed over 40 tunes dedicated to and performed for special places, friends, and occasions – restaurants, art gallery openings, music festivals, a celebrity wedding, the pandemic, and some very special birthdays!
TafelJazz is a collection of 12 of these “songs for an occasion” composed by Heukeshoven and performed by H3O with the help of friends and family including John Paulson on sax and flute, John Sievers on trombone and vocals, and Janet Heukeshoven on flute.
To celebrate the release of their first studio recording, H3O Jazz Trio is throwing two album release parties – and everyone’s invited! On Wednesday, February 21 from 6 to 8 pm, fans in Rochester can hear the entire album performed live as part of the Rochester City Jazz Festival’s monthlong residency at Thesis Beer Project. The party moves to Winona on Sunday, February 25 as H3O returns to Island City Brewing Company from 2 to 4 pm. Both events are free and open to all.
CD copies of the album will be available for purchase at both events. The album is also available on all major streaming platforms.
