In a 24-hour time period, Sugarloaf Theatre is offering a chance to experience going from nothing to performance time with three fun and short sci-fi-themed plays. Warp indeed! Community members are invited to join in the fun as actors (no experience necessary) or enjoy the final performance.
In case you’re unfamiliar with the term “warp,” in sci-fi speak, it can mean to travel lightning fast, bend space-time, giddy up and go, while also being there.
It’s a 24-hour commitment with big fun and payoff; that’s it. While writers, actors (children and adults 12 and up), and directors will have to fasten their seat belts for this 24-hour ride, jump in anyway because not only is no acting experience necessary, you don’t even have to audition for this wild performance extravaganza. Just register at linktr.ee/sugarloaftheatre, and show up based on the details outlined below.
Writers, actors, and directors will meet from 6-8 p.m. on Friday, April 11, in Wesley United Methodist Church to discuss plans for the next day.
Selected writers will go home and work on writing one of three short “Warp to Winona” plays
Actors and directors will get a good night’s rest so they’re ready to warp early Saturday morning, April 12, to start all-day rehearsals (with breaks and a pizza dinner) all the way up to show time at 7 p.m. — all at Wesley. Twenty-four hours to stardom!
Although this all sounds impossible, this will be Sugarloaf Theatre’s third year for 24-hour theater, so they know it works. Previous themes were “Once Upon a Time in Winona” and “Upon a Snowy Eve.”
Sugarloaf Theatre, founded by Seamus Schwaba, offers an energetic and friendly environment for community members of all ages to develop and experience what it means to be part of an ensemble, to perform and entertain.
