Milwaukee Poetry Marathon
Saturday, January 24 | Sunday, January 25
10 AM – 10 PM both days
Saint Kate Arts Hotel | Downtown Milwaukee, WI
RAA member (and former area resident) Scott Lowery is looking forward to participating again in the Poetry Marathon, an annual celebration and fundraiser for Milwaukee’s unique and invaluable Woodland Pattern Books, January 24 & 25, 10 am to 10 pm both days. In an economically challenged urban area with almost no state arts funding, Woodland Pattern orchestrates 400+ free and give-what-you-can programs every year, including poetry readings, spoken word and hybrid performances, concerts and films, art shows, writing and reader groups, workshops from visiting artists, after-school classes with partner schools, and summer writing camps for children and teens.
This year’s 32nd annual Poetry Marathon features twenty-four hours of 5-minute poetry performances, interspersed with film, music and conversation. Why not take a roadtrip? Attend in-person at Saint Kate—the Arts Hotel in downtown Milwaukee, a few blocks walk from the beautiful Milwaukee Art Museum. Give What You Can Tickets are available on Woodland Pattern’s Website. Make it a poetry and art-filled weekend! Two meals a day provided with your ticket.
Or tune in at home via Comcast—watch the WPB website for link, coming soon. Either way, Scott would appreciate support for his reading, which is scheduled during the Community Hour between 7-8 pm on Sunday evening. You can chip in here: Use the drop-down menu to select “I want to support: a specific reader” and write that you are supporting Scott with your donation!
