The Winona County Historical Society is a private non-profit educational institution that is dedicated to the collection, preservation, exhibition, and interpretation of materials that document the history of Winona County, Minnesota.

WCHS operates three museums. The Winona County History Center in downtown Winona houses three floors of exhibits, the Laird Lucas Library and Archives, staff offices, gift shop, and event spaces. The Historic Bunnell House is located in Homer and the Rural Heritage Museum is on the Winona County Fair Grounds in St. Charles, which includes a log house, log barn, and one room schoolhouse.

The arts are a great avenue to learn about our past. A wide variety of events and programs are put on by WCHS. The second weekend in October is host to their “Voices From the Past” cemetery walk, where the past comes to life with community actors in beautiful Woodlawn Cemetery. From artifact and art collections on exhibit, to historic craft classes, to hosting the Art of Fine Furniture exhibition and Handmade Neighborhood Art Sale, WCHS is a community partner for a vibrant Winona. WCHS and RAA host regular art gallery shows in the History Center Slaggie Family Lobby. Many locally made items are also found in the Museum Shop, supporting local artists.
