POET HEID ERDRICH TO READ AT BLUE HERON

As part of First Tuesday, the continuing Laureate Writing Series, Heid Erdrich will read from her recent poetry at the Blue Heron Coffeehouse on April 7th at 7 pm. A Q&A and book signing will follow the reading. The evening will close with an Open Mic that is open to one and all. This event is free and open to the public.

Heid Erdrich is Ojibwe and enrolled at Turtle Mountain. She has authored nine books of poetry and prose, and edited New Poets of Native Nations, as well as co-editing Boundless: Abundance in Native American Art and Literature. Her most recent book is Verb Animate, in which she collaborates with choreographers, visual artists, filmmakers, galleries, and museums. The book includes prompts for readers to generate their own art- inspired poetry. In 2020, her book Little Big Bully won a National Poetry Series award. In 2025, she held the James Welch Distinguished Visiting Writer position at the University of Montana. Heid Erdrich serves her communities through formal and informal mentorship, Poetry interventions, and in activating collaborative response between communities.
