Website Redesign - 2021

In 2021, the River Arts Alliance website underwent some major changes both visible and behind the scenes.

The design includes a new, colorful logo that represents the wide variety of artists that make up our membership. The website now appeals to a wider audience through the use of color and a new layout which places more emphasis on our community projects while continuing to feature our members’ news and events. The logo design is also adaptable to represent each project, as demonstrated on the home page slider (and below).

Behind the scenes, the website is now more responsive to mobile devices. Security has been improved and site statistics are available. Images are protected from right click copying.

The RAA website was last revamped in 2015 by Heidi Bryant, based on the original design by Monta May. Features and functionality have been added along the way. The organization has grown and changed dramatically over the past 6 years—and technology has also advanced a lot! So the time had come for a reimagining of our online presence.

Heidi Bryant chose user-friendly web tools and provided training to the new Arts Administrator, Johanna Rupprecht. The workflow of RAA has been streamlined to be managed by a single staff person and Heidi will be available to provide website technical support when needed.

We hope you enjoy exploring our website and learning more about our projects, our members, and our service to the arts community of the Winona, Minnesota region.

The benefits of membership in the River Arts Alliance are many and varied. In addition to options such as an artist webpage on the RAA site, promotion of events and projects, networking, and participation in the Annual Member Exhibit and Showcase, our members support our larger projects, programs, and events.

RAA is an important part of our vibrant arts community and members are critical to the success of everything we do.

Family Art Day is a free, interactive art adventure for all ages, held on the first Saturday in September at the Jaycee Pavilion in East Lake Park, Winona.

Celebrate the arts through fun family art activities that continue River Arts Alliance’s efforts to promote arts in the community through hands-on activities and experiential learning. The event is free and open to all.

The first River Arts Alliance Member Exhibit was held in 2016, allowing our visual artist members to share their work in a gallery setting. The annual event was interrupted in 2020 and was adapted to a virtual format for 2021.

As a member organization, RAA supports a wide variety of artists. Writers, musicians, filmmakers, and dancers joined our visual artists in the Member Exhibit and Showcase for the first time this year.

The HBC Fence Project: A History of Communication is a public art collaboration between River Arts Alliance, HBC, and the City of Winona for the past several years.

On Thursday, July 18, 2019, members of the three organizations celebrated the completion of this project at its location at Levee Park, along the north side of HBC headquarters.
