Sandbar Storytelling Festival Employment Opportunity

The Sandbar Storytelling Festival is seeking a year-round Managing Director. This person will be someone whose experience includes managing and promoting performing arts events. This person will demonstrate skills in project management, marketing, event planning for multiple venues, ticketing, merchandise sales, grant-writing, and audience services. The ability to multi-task, manage groups of volunteers and contractors, work in a professional, respectful, equitable, and inclusive manner with diverse persons, and remain calm under pressure will be essential. The annual salary is $36,000 (with standard deductions, state and federal taxes, FICA). This contract does not include medical benefits or 401K contributions.

The contract runs from December 1, 2025 – November 30, 2026.

About the Organization

The Sandbar Storytelling Festival is heading into its fifth year of operation. It is a 12-month
organization that promotes and teaches the art of storytelling throughout the upper Midwest
via storytelling events, Business & Immigrant Stories, storytelling workshops, and educational
offerings in schools and civic organizations. The season culminates in a six-day Festival (October
6 – 11, 2026) featuring performances by several professional storytellers from around the
