Sugarloaf Community Theatre – 24-Hour theatre, Craft on the Clock

Friday-Saturday | April 10 & 11
Ages 12+ | $10/Tickets
Every year Sugarloaf Community Theatre presents 24-Hour Theatre and every year the end results are a surprise and a blast! If you’d like to get in on this compressed rush of adrenaline, there are two ways: 1) sign up to be an actor. That’s it. No auditions. If you’re 12+, sign up and you’re IN. Or 2)mark your calendars to come see the results of a nothing-to-three one-act-plays in, you guessed it, TWENTY FOUR HOURS! Tickets are only ten bucks and can be purchased at linktr.ee/sugarloaftheatre or at the door.
This year’s theme is “Craft on the Clock.” That can mean just about anything that ignites the imagination of the writers and the creative whimsy of the directors, all who have already been chosen. The brave writers are Ash Wicka, Jason Derr and Beth Pekar. The dedicated directors are Cora Yarke. Aidan Indahl and Seamus Schwaba.
On Friday April 10 there will be a kick-off meeting from 6 – 8 p.m. at Nate and Ally’s, lower level. There writers, directors and actors will introduce themselves to each other and a prop will be selected that must be utilized in each one-act play. Then everyone heads home to catch some zzz’s, except Writers who get straight to work because their script must be turned in by latest early Saturday morning.
Saturday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. (with breaks) everyone involved–but the writers, who will likely be sleeping–meet at Central Lutheran Church to learn the script, their lines and blocking because at 7 p.m. it is show time!
A reminder: absolutely no acting experience is necessary, just the willingness to git-‘er-done in 24 hours. What better time than only a 24-hour commitment to satisfy that acting itch. Who knows? The experience might change your life! Just fill out this actor registration form.
