Bach composed over 200 sung and orchestrated multi-movement settings called Cantatas. Drawing on scripture, poetry, and prose, and intended as commentary on the Gospel & Sermon, most cantatas were performed in worship.
Expressing these universal themes, Cantatas 8,78, and 72 allow us a glimpse into Bach’s emotional life and his beliefs. This music has the ability to inspire hope and confidence even as we face life’s many challenges. Join our chorus, orchestra and soloists in a concert celebrating what it means to be human.
