Sowah Mensah: Drumming and Music of Ghana
The Winona State University Department of Music will host the third concert of the International Music Series featuring Sowah Mensah: Drumming and Music of Ghana at 6 p.m. Thursday, October 13th, in the Performing Arts Center Recital Hall.
Sowah Mensah, ethnomusicologist, composer and Master Drummer from Ghana, West Africa is currently a Professor of Music at both Macalester College and the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, MN. In addition to teaching, Mensah directs African Music Ensembles at both schools and at the University of Minnesota. Mensah has taught music in both Ghana and Nigeria as well.
The International Music Series is supported by the WSU Student Life Fee and Department of Music.
Admission is free and open to the public.
