Do you like to write fiction, non-fiction, or poetry? Check out the Great River Writes – Winona Writers Group that meets every second Friday of the Month from 3:30-5:30PM in the Winona Public Library’s Youth Programming Room. Each month you will receive writing prompts to work on and bring to the next meeting. Don’t like the prompts? Then make your own.

Bring one page, single-spaced of your work to be critiqued at the meeting. The Library will make copies of your work to be passed out at the meeting.

Writing prompts for the Friday, September 13th meeting are:

  1. Friday the 13th: For many people this is an especially unlucky day. Write about something unlucky: a person, an incident, a superstition. (Or write about how to avoid the ‘bad luck’, or how to insure ‘good luck’.)
  2. For most of my life September marks the beginning of the year (school year that is.) Write something about school. This could be a personal memory of a favorite or hated teacher, an incident with classmates, a memorable learning experience(positive or negative), or even an opinion about learning.

Great River Writes is a partner of River Arts Alliance.
