Mister James and Mister Jeff DVD

There is a DVD copy of the play Mister James and Mister Jeff at the Winona Public Library, for those who missed it and would like to see it!

Mister James and Mister Jeff is the mostly true story of James W. Stovall and “Old Jeff”…two escaped slaves who arrived in Winona after the Civil War. The play tells the story of what happened to them, and how Winona received these refugees who arrived fleeing slavery, poverty and the worst kinds of oppression.

The play was written by Margaret Shaw Johnson and performed at the Masonic, in May, 2019.
