Winona Writers Group – September Meeting

Friday | September 10 | 3:30-5:30pm
may end early, depending on how many readers participate
Valley Oaks Shelter

We are excited to announce this month we will once again have our meeting inside at the Valley Oaks Shelter. Everyone attending will need to sign a liability waiver if they have not already done so. We’ll be meeting in person this month, with a Zoom option (see below) for anyone unable to attend at Valley Oaks.

Bring a copy of your writing that you wish to share (up to 2000 words). Optionally, bring 4 or 5 extra copies to share with participants. Or, the library staff will be happy to make copies for folks if they bring them in ahead of time and tell the library it’s for the writer’s group.

As always, feel free to use the prompts below, change them, or ignore them and write your own idea. We will read aloud, then share verbal comments and suggestions.

September Prompts:

  1. Remember those early school essays–what I did for summer vacation? Try it again from an adult perspective. You could write about something from this summer, some summer in the past, or even a purely fictitious summer.
  2. Write something starting with: She knew something was wrong the minute she heard the phone ring.

Directions to Valley Oaks Shelter: 260 Valley Oaks Drive, Winona. It is off of East Burns Valley Road which is along Homer Rd. Here is the Google link to the map: https://goo.gl/maps/fErzpTEXxSb7g72i8. Also, there will be a big yard sign outside of the building that says "Writers Group."

In case of bad weather, join the Zoom Meeting https://us02web.zoom.us/j/86855941259.

Great River Writes and the City of Winona are partners of the River Arts Alliance.
