Mutual Life, a new collection of poems from longtime RAA member Scott Lowery, will be published in August by Finishing Line Press. Click on the title for the chapbook’s webpage, with beautiful cover art by Minneapolis print artist Emily Gray Koehler, a generous sample of comments from fellow poets, and a brief synopsis. Through June 30th, the book is available for advance pre-order at a $2 discount.

These poems bear witness to daily life over the last six years, with crisis and chaos looming in the background: climate disaster, xenophobia, pandemic, racial injustice. What’s been strained to the breaking point, and what still holds us together? St. Paul poet Naomi Cohn says “Fierce, funny, tender and ultimately hopeful, Lowery has transformed the dumpster fire of our recent past into poems you want to visit again and again.”

Scott Lowery is a poet, musician, and teaching artist. His work can be found in a wide variety of literary journals and several anthologies, with two poems nominated for Pushcart and Best of Net awards. A long-time public educator, Scott loves guiding poetry workshops for young writers, inside and outside of classrooms. He and his wife Connie Blackburn recently moved from Rollingstone, Minnesota, magnetically pulled toward their young grandchildren in Milwaukee.
