The Winona Brass Band is preparing for a holiday-themed concert to be held on Sunday, December 10th at 2:00 pm. The concert will take place in the lovely St. Cecilia Hall on the Cotter High School campus at 1124 West Wabasha Street, Winona. The concert is free, and all are welcome to attend. A free-will offering will be accepted at the door to offset expenses.
The performance begins with a delightful setting of Joy to the World arranged by William Himes, followed by Christmas Celebration March by Stephen Bulla. Also, in the first half the audience will enjoy a beautifully peaceful setting of Lo How a Rose Ere Blooming arranged by William Gordon and many other seasonal favorites. Principal cornet player, Ellis Workman, will be the featured soloist on the jazzy Comin’ to Town, while the low brass and percussion sections will answer the upper brass with Calypso Claus composed for the band by Eric Heukeshoven.
Directed by Dr. Janet Heukeshoven, the Winona Brass Band is celebrating their 30th year of entertaining area audiences. The band is a non-profit community band whose members come from throughout the region. If you’re a brass or percussion player and are interested in membership opportunities please contact Janet Heukeshoven at jheukesh@smumn.edu or WBB board president John Helm at helmje2@gmail.com.
