Cy Dodson, owner of Minneapolis-based Triumph Pictures, is focused on producing award-winning unscripted content. Cy combines his use of cinematography and editing to craft compelling tales of the human spirit, creating memorable, gripping productions. His film Say His Name: Five Days for George Floyd was commissioned by Twin Cities Public Television (TPT) premiering April 2021. His previous film and national Emmy-nominated Beneath the Ink (2018) hits on complex racial issues in his Ohio hometown that highlights human stories of forgiveness and redemption. His film, The Ragman is the compelling story of a vagabond musician & storyteller, and My Last Breath is an inspiring story of a young asthmatic man whose life is entirely transformed during an asthma attack. Dodson has won numerous jury and audience awards at festivals worldwide and was acquired by Conde Nast for their “GQ Stories” platform. Cy is the recipient of a 2020 McKnight Media Artist Fellowship and the 2021 Jerome Foundation Fellowship.
These films are made possible by the voters of Minnesota through a grant from the Southeast Minnesota Arts Council thanks to a legislative appropriation from the Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund.
