The Bach Society of Minnesota, now in its 93rd year, will open its 2024-25 season at 7:00 pm September 20 at Central Lutheran Church in Winona with a Double Concerto Extravaganza featuring works by Antonio Vivaldi, G. Ph. Telemann, Handel, and J.S. Bach. Tickets ($25 regular, $5 student) can be purchased at the door or online: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/double-concerto-extravaganza-winona-tickets-980874290407?aff=oddtdtcreator.
“Prepare to be captivated by our Double Concerto Extravaganza, a dazzling showcase of the brilliance of Bach, Telemann, Vivaldi and Handel!” said Matthias Maute, Artistic Director, Bach Society of Minnesota. “By stepping beyond the realm of concertos for a single soloist, we celebrate the intricate interplay and shared artistry that define these masterpieces, offering an unforgettable exploration of the collaborative genius of these timeless masters.”
The Double Concerto Extravaganza, a musical feast featuring scintillating works by the greatest composers of the Baroque era, will be powered by the mastery and expression of two soloists per concerto. Bach’s famous 5th Brandenburg Concerto will take it even further with three soloists! Performers include Matthias Maute, Recorder/Artistic Director; Cléa Galhano, Recorder; Margaret Humphrey, Violin/Concertmaster; Tami Morse, Harpsichord; and members of the Orchestra of the Bach Society of Minnesota.
About Bach Society of Minnesota:
Bach Society of Minnesota was founded in 1932, one of the first organizations in North America to take the legacy of Johann Sebastian Bach as an exclusive starting point for world-class performances with period instruments and historic performance practices that evoke the depths and passions of Bach’s compositions. Under the artistic direction of Matthias Maute, the organization continues its focus on collaboration and excellence, striving to create respectful, successful relationships among musicians, audiences, students, and partner organizations, and building a diverse community with a shared passion for performing, promoting, and appreciating the music of J.S. Bach and those he inspired. For more information about Bach Society of Minnesota, its performances, and concert tickets, visit www.bachsocietymn.org.
