New Art Show Opens April 29 at the Winona County History Center
Rock and Roll to Realism by Kathy Kovala is opening with a reception on Friday, April 29, 4 – 6 pm and will be showing through June 12 at the Winona County History Center.
A passionate, nurturing artist with innovative techniques, Kathy Kovala is noted for her ability to “throw paint” and the use of her “rock and roll” techniques to paint watercolor.
Her experience as a watercolor artist began in 1990 by taking classes with instructors Nita Engle and Frank Webb. After taking classes with the top instructors in the United States, Kathy learned many teaching methods and added to her knowledge of the artform. She started teaching watercolor in her studio in Rhinelander, Wisconsin and ran her gallery, Finishing Touches, for fourteen years. She recently moved to Winona to be closer to her family and continued her art and classes. She will be leading a watercolor painter’s tour of Croatia for Silkamilna Painting Tours in June. Kathy also has connections to Kauai and Big Sky, Montana where she has spent 28 years of wintering and summering.
Art Gallery shows are free to view at the History Center and much of the art is for sale. The History Center is open daily 10 am – 4 pm. Find the Winona County Historical Society online at www.winonahistory.org or call 507-454-2723 for more information.
