Winona Brass Band Season Begins November 10

The Winona Brass Band will kick off their 31st season with a Veterans Day themed concert at the Winona Middle School Auditorium on Sunday, November 10 at 3:00 pm. The group is excited to begin their fourth decade as they continue offering great music to audiences in a new performance location.

A collection of Civil War songs (American Civil War Fantasy by Bilik/Himes), patriotic marches (National Emblem, Under the Double Eagle) and a favorite arrangement of Star-Spangled Banner by Wiliam Himes all have connections to veterans. Music by John Philip Sousa, a veteran himself, will be featured along with the stirring Legends in Brass by James Curnow. And the audience will be sent out tapping their toes to a rousing performance of When the Saints Go Marching In arranged by Gordon Langford.

All Winona Brass Band concerts are free and open to all. Donations will be accepted in support of the group’s mission to bring concerts to a diverse audience free of charge.

The group’s next performance will take place at Central Lutheran Church on Saturday, December 14 at 11 am. The annual CLC holiday bake and crafts sale starts at 9 am. A soup and sandwich lunch will also be available. Come for the goodies and stay for the concert and lunch!
