Nirmala Rajasekar – Music of South India

The Winona State University International Music Series will host Music of South India with Nirmala Rajasekar at 6 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 29, in the Performing Arts Center Recital Hall.

Nirmala Rajasekar began her musical training with the Veena at the young age of 6 years old. She later began her career as a soloist at the age of 13. Rajasekar has performed all over the world throughout her life in many different major venues. In her time as a musician she has been given several awards and has collaborated actively with different art styles like Western Classical, Chinese, Jazz, Dance and Poetry.

Rajasekar is the artistic director of Naadha Rasa, Center for Music. She continues to teach and share her passion for Veena and Carnatic music.

This event is free and open to the public. The International Music Series is supported by the WSU Student Life Fee and Department of Music.
