Exhibition of Recent Drawings “Beneath the Fields” by Lois Peterson

May 16 – July 5 | Winona County History Center

Beneath Our Fields is an exhibition of drawings by Lois Peterson. Each piece is a reflection on what existed prior to the iconic farmlands of our area. Peterson grew up on a family dairy farm in Southwest Wisconsin, where overtime she came to recognize the price the natural environment paid as the fields of corn, oats, soybeans and hay replaced the prairies and woodlands that preceded them. Cavan Mittage-McNaught, outreach specialist from Prairie Moon Nursery, will give a free public presentation on June 30th at 1:30 discussing how we can incorporate native plants into home gardens. Peterson will provide 50 live native plants for those in attendance to take home to their own gardens. All are welcome and registration is not required.

Lois Peterson is a member of the River Arts Alliance. To learn more about the benefits of membership, please visit: riverartsalliance.org/membership/.
