Join Preston Lawing at the Winona Arts Center for a 3 Day workshop in Bookbinding/Bookmaking. Make a Journal or sketchbook while you learn all the skills to produce your books! We will start with simple skills: paper folding, stitching and gluing pages together, preparing backing boards with colorful papers or fabric, and completing several different types of books by the end of the course. We will talk about the history and style of books, preservation and display of your books, and how to move beyond simple projects towards more intensive, creative solutions to match your ideas. The classes, led by Preston Lawing (a nationally recognized art educator and Professor Emeritus from Saint Mary’s University of MN), are accessible and friendly, providing a safe and fun space to develop your book binding skills. The workshop is Wednesdays, November 4, 11, and 18 from 5:30 to 7:30pm. It is open to interested creatives over 18. Cost is $145 for members and $150 for non-members. All materials included. Register today! Email Jen at jsbenson50+WAC@gmail.com. Send payment to the Winona Arts Center, 228 E 5th St, Winona, MN 55987. Scholarships are available.
