Free Family Concert
Sunday | April 29 | 6:30pm
Maplewood Townhomes Winona Family Community Center
1756 Kraemer Drive | Winona
The public is invited to attend a free family concert! The short performance will feature a number of instrumental ensembles, including Saint Mary’s students and high school students from the region who play in the Saint Mary’s Concert Band, Flutistry, and Winona community musicians. Children will have a chance to join in with small percussion instruments.
This concert is the first of three in the free family concert series to be presented in the coming months. It’s sponsored in part by the Elizabeth Calendar King Foundation and the Saint Mary’s University Music Department. For more information, contact Dr. Janet Heukeshoven at jheukesh@smumn.edu.
The goal of the Free Family Concert Series is to bring live music to people who generally do not attend concerts, to connect people to music they’ve never heard before, to capture the interest and imagination of children regarding music, and to break down barriers, real or imagined. The FFC Series promotes an informal cross-cultural connection between Saint Mary’s University, the larger Winona community of musicians and those that attend the performances.
Support for the purchase of small percussion instruments was provided by the generosity of the Elizabeth Calendar King Foundation, we have enough instruments for 25 kids, all ages.
