Frozen River Film Festival appoints Illy Diaz as Managing Director

The Frozen River Film Festival (FRFF), Minnesota’s only all-documentary film
festival, is pleased to announce the hiring of Illy Diaz as Managing Director.

Illy brings over a decade of film festival programming, film reviewing and
consulting, film curation, and project management experience to the organization.
Before joining FRFF, Ms. Diaz served as ALD Curator for the Yukon Film Society, Associate
Programmer for the Sante Fe International Film Festival, Director of Programming at Grand
River Film Festival and Victoria BIPOC Film Festival. Her background in film festival
programming will be key to Frozen River Film Festival’s mission of presenting the annual festival each winter and offering year-round opportunities for people to connect with and through films.
“We are thrilled to have Illy join our team in this leadership role,” Board Chair Andrew
Knauff said. “With her extensive background in programming, project management, and event
operation, we believe she is uniquely positioned to lead the next chapter at Frozen River Film
Festival.”

“I welcome this leadership opportunity with a spirit of collaboration and absolute enthusiasm. I
am looking forward to working alongside the dedicated Frozen River Film Festival team, and to
bringing excellent programming, film events, the annual festival, and community building to
Winona and the greater Driftless Region,”  Diaz said.
