MATT CASHION TO READ FROM HIS FICTION AT THE BLUE HERON

Matt Cashion, a fiction writer who teaches creative writing at UW-LaCrosse, will read from his work at the Blue Heron on Tuesday, August 4th at 7 p.m. as part of the continuing Laureate Writers Series. Cashion’s reading will be followed by a Q&A, book signing, and an Open Mic to which any writers, veterans or first-timers, may read from their work.

Matt Cashion’s most recent book of stories, HOW WE DO THINGS HERE, was a finalist for the Flannery O’Conner Award for short fiction. His short story collection LAST WORDS OF THE HOLY GHOST won the 2015 Katherine Anne Porter Prize, and his novel, OUR 13th DIVORCE, won the Edna Ferber Book Prize. His stories have won several other prestigious awards. His work has appeared in The Sun, Cincinnati Review, Carolina Quarterly Quarterly, Florida Review, and the anthology HOPE IS THE THING. Cashion was born in the mountains of North Carolina and raised in Coastal Georgia, and has worked as a reporter, bartender, piano mover, and convenience store clerk. He earned his MFA from the University of Oregon.
