Art on the Fly at the La Crosse Regional Airport

Art on the Fly graphic

Art on the Fly is a fine-art exhibition program hosted by the La Crosse Regional Airport, an effort that hosts three to four shows per year by regional artists in our recently renovated terminal. We exhibit paintings, prints, photography, any two-dimensional art, in both the TSA secure area and the non-secure areas throughout the terminal.

The goal of the program is to enhance the travelers’ experience, showcase the fine arts of the region, and provide artists with a new exhibition venue. The La Crosse Regional Airport hosts some 80,000 travelers each year.

We have approximately 140 linear feet of display space, divided into several areas. An exhibit could feature the work of more than one artist at a time. We accept only original two-dimensional artwork, framed, ready to hang. All art is secured with locking toggles. Artists are free to sell their exhibited work, and all sales will be between the artist and the buyer. The La Crosse Regional Airport does not take any commission on sales. We reserve the right to decline any artwork for any reason.

We expect exhibiting artists to assist in the hanging of their show, and art must be picked up promptly when the show comes down.

Interested? Please contact Aviation Board member Drake Hokanson at dhokanson@winona.edu and provide the following:

  • Full name
  • Mailing address
  • Email address
  • Contact phone number
  • A link to your website (if any)
  • A one or two paragraph description of your work, including medium, general sizes, subjects, etc.
  • Six or more high-quality images of your work, with titles, medium and sizes. Provide them in jpg or jpeg format, and please keep the file sizes under 2 MB per file.

We will contact you soon after receiving your material. If you don’t hear from us within a few days, send a follow up email to Drake Hokanson (above) as emails with large attachments sometimes get trashed by email servers.

The is an excellent opportunity to get your work in front of people who wouldn’t necessarily see it in a gallery or at an art show.

If you have general questions, feel free to contact Drake Hokanson at the email address above.
