What to Expect

The six Sonatas and Partitas of J.S. Bach form a sprawling collection and have been the standard and “Everest” of solo violin repertoire for the last 300 years. Presenting the works in one special event is already a unique experience for the audience and performer alike. This event adds the element of experiencing the entirety of the Minnesota Marine Art Museum in a unique way, as listeners are immersed in each gallery exhibition, with necessary breaks after each pair of pieces.

Preceding each Bach work will be a short statement about what makes each piece unique, and why that piece was paired with the exhibition it is in. After each piece is performed, the audience will move to a new gallery together to experience the next work. Audience members will be invited to take in visually each gallery as each Bach work is performed. For those for whom the entire presentation is daunting, you are welcome to join or depart at any of the breaks when we move galleries. It is a monumental feat to experience, and the entire presentation will be very moving. As such, we will cap off the evening with a celebratory toast and reception in the lobby. All of the mid- and post-concert food offerings are provided by Chef’s Table Winona.

Tickets are $35 and available online here.
