Myths & Legends of Minnesota: An exhibition of the Minnesota Plein Air Collective at the Minnesota Marine Art Museum in Winona from May 16 -Sept. 13, 2026

“As a member of the Outdoor Painters of Minnesota I had the opportunity to plein air paint at Sugarloaf Cabins in Schroeder, Minnesota in August of 2025. After five days of painting and enjoying the company of other artists I enjoyed my last day at the property taking in the waterfront view of Lake Superior. I opted to incorporate cold wax with my oils, to capture the energy of the waves as they came ashore. I usually reserve the use of cold wax for the studio since it takes more pressure to move the paint around. The picnic tables onsite served me well to try something different plein air.
