Winona Community Chorale Presents Fall Concert “Unsung Holidays,” Nov. 6 & 7

Friday, November 6, 7PM | Saturday, November 7, 2PM | No Tickets Required
Central Lutheran Church | 259 W Wabasha St | Winona, MN

The Winona Community Chorale will present its fall concert, “Unsung Holidays,” on Friday, November 6, and Saturday, November 7. This fall’s program is a journey through the calendar year, filled with music to recognize a variety of holidays, including those not often celebrated with their own concerts.

Performances will take place at Central Lutheran Church, 259 W Wabasha St., Winona, at 7:00 p.m. on Nov. 6 and 2:00 p.m. on Nov. 7. Instrumental pre-concert music by local flute ensemble Flutistry will begin 30 minutes prior. Admission is via free-will offering and no tickets are required.

The Winona Community Chorale is a 60-member, mixed choral ensemble led by Vocal Director Kurt Speltz and Music Director Lisa Douglas, performing music from a wide variety of genres, styles, and time periods. The choir was founded in January 2023 and “Unsung Holidays” will be its eighth concert. The vision of the Chorale is to inspire a love and appreciation for exceptional choral singing in our area, and to ignite the joy and human connection it generates.

“Unsung Holidays” will feature a range of pieces in celebration of holidays both traditional and less so, from “Auld Lang Syne” for New Year’s to “Java Jive” for National Coffee Day, and much more. As always, the program draws from both traditional choral repertoire and arrangements of beloved popular music. John Rutter’s arrangement of “When the Saints Go Marching In” celebrates Mardi Gras, Dolly Parton’s “9 to 5” recognizes Labor Day, and both “Monster Mash” and returning favorite “Jabberwocky” will be included for Halloween.

For those unable to attend in person, the concert will be live-streamed via the choir’s Facebook page at www.facebook.com/WinonaCommunityChorale. Videos from past performances can also be found on the choir’s YouTube page at www.youtube.com/@wcc507.

Interested new members may join the Chorale when spring season rehearsals begin in January 2027. For more information, please email WinonaCommunityChorale@gmail.com or follow the choir on Facebook.
